Amit Tandon was born in New York and is American national. 

Amit completed his graduation from Stony Brook University and came to India to participate in reality singing show Indian Idol 1.

Post eviction from Indian Idol, Amit debuted on TV with show Kaisa Ye Pyaar Hai and was shot to fame with the role of Dr. Abhimanyu Modi in show Dill Mill Gayye. 

Amit has married famous dermatologist Dr. Ruby and has a daughter named Jiyana. 

Currently Amit has taken up the role of Ishita’s (Divyanka Tripathi) ex-boyfriend Subu in the popular show Yeh Hai Mohabbatein on Star Plus.
