Dhadak Movie Review: Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter embraces a youth love story intriguing caste system

And finally one of the most awaited Bollywood Movie 'DHADAK' has hit the screens,

Directed by Shashank Khaitan and Produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, Dhadak is an adaptation of the Marathi Blockbuster 'Sairat', which had featured newcomers Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar in the lead.

The film Dhadak is set in Udaipur where an upper caste girl Parthavi Singh (Janhvi Kapoor) falls in passionate love with a lower caste boy Madhukar (Ishaan Khatter).

Parthavi, daughter of Political strongman Ratan Singh (Ashutosh Rana), refuses to abide by his rules. Janhvi Kapoor has played a strong-willed, fierce and definitely not subtle character.

In 90's style, Parthavi challenges Madhukar's masculinity and the lower caste boy decides to tread a difficult path.

The adaptation suits Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter in the beginning, an easy-breezy love story makes the audience laugh, mostly because of Ishaan's innocent frolics. And Ishaan Khatter has kept it simple by not going overboard.

Sairat remake Dhadak didn't go up to mark

Dhadak had tried to replicate Sairat but doesn't go well blazing to address pertinent questions related to caste, it's more of a class distinction than caste in Dhadak.

Ishan Khatter has displayed a wide range of emotions but the lack of depth in the narrative holds him back while Janhvi Kapoor isn't exactly a feminist, but a tinge of rebellion is always visible. Janhvi is better in scenes with typical Bollywood arches like a build-up to song sequences or hero-heroine dialogues.

The Movie is worth to get Star 3 out of 5. Within the 137 minutes duration, it's not as powerful as the original one Sairat', but could be a good watch for audiences looking for fresh faces or Youth love story.
