Indian Premier League 2025: Chennai Super Kings still at the last of the list, only 2 wins in 8 matches

Chennai Super Kings need a miracle to overcome their current situation, which includes consecutive defeats this IPL 2025 season.

The yellow franchise with the legacy of iconic players has already won 5 trophies, making them equal to Mumbai Indians, who have won the most titles in IPL history.

However, this year’s story has started a bit differently with CSK being in the last position of the points table after playing 8 matches.

Chennai Super Kings managed to win just 2 matches till now, and have faced defeat in the other 6 matches they have played.

In their previous match, Chennai Super Kings faced a crushing defeat from Mumbai Indians with a big margin, which deteriorated their run rate even further.

Last year in IPL 2024, Royal Challengers Bangalore were in a similar situation where they had 7 losses and 2 wins after playing 9 matches.

From being in the last position, RCB turned the tables for themselves with consecutive wins, which led them to go to the play-offs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore won against Chennai Super Kings to jump to the play-offs, which was an iconic rivalry match of last year.

Fans are comparing the conditions of RCB and CSK and predicting that CSK need to make a comeback like RCB this year.

Chennai Super Kings to make a comeback like Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2024?

Despite their disappointing performance in IPL 2025, Kasi Viswanathan, the CEO of the franchise, commented that he believes Thala will be able to put their team on the right track.

Viswanathan stated in one of his events in Chennai, “ All of you will be a little bit disappointed with the performance of CSK this year. Of course, it’s bound to happen. We have had this earlier also. We know that we are not playing good cricket as of now. But we hope that in the coming matches, we will be able to do better. We have got someone of the calibre of Shivam Dube here. He has been doing so well over the years. And with someone like Thala being at the helm, it’s only a question of time before we come back,"

However, CSK will need to win all of their remaining 6 matches to ensure they get the chance to go to the play-offs this year.

Even after Dhoni was reinstated as the captain after Ruturaj Gaikwad’s elbow injury, the team failed to show a changed performance.

Let us see if Chennai Super Kings can make their comeback in the upcoming matches against SRH on 25 April and against PBKS on 30 April.
