Neeraj Chopra born December 24, 1997 in a Rajput farmer family is an Indian track and field athlete competing in the javelin thrower.
Neeraj has created history by winning the gold medal in Tokyo Olympics 2021 by throwing 87.58 meters.
He is the third Indian after Abhinav Bindra and Anju Boby Jorge to win a gold medal in athletics at a World Championship level.
He achieved this feat at the 2016 IAAF U20 World Championships held in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
Along with this medal, he has also set a world junior record.
At the 2016 South Asian Games, he won the gold medal with a javelin throw of 82.23 meters, equaling the Indian national record.
Despite such performances, he failed to make it to the 2016 Summer Olympics as the last date to qualify was 11 July 2016.
He is from Khandara village, Panipat, Haryana, India.
He is currently coached by Gary Gary Calvert.
Neeraj won the gold medal at the 2017 Asian Athletics Championships with a javelin throw of 85.23 metres.
In the 2018 Commonwealth Games held in Gold Coast Australia, he won the gold medal in the event by throwing 86.47 meters.

Neeraj Chopra is from a poor family of Haryana, he did not even have money to buy a spear, so he used to practice in Panipat with a spear of 6000 to 7000
Indian Rupees.
