The Watcher of Marvel's 'What if...?' is inspired by Samay from Mahabharat

Harish Bhimani is a writer, anchor, voice-over artiste, on-screen person, and documentary and corporate filmmaker, enduringly known as the voice of Samay, the narrator of the TV series Mahabharat, and became the most recognized voice in the country.

Similarly, Marvel's what if relies on the Watcher to act as the glue that holds its anthology format together.

The Watcher character is voiced by Jeffrey Wright.

What if is an animated series that reimagines certain events and characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and presents them as a part of alternate timelines.

What If...? is streaming now on Disney+ Hotstar

Diving further into the series will introduce many more familiar MCU characters, and the one weaving it all together at the core is The Watcher.

He’s a wry narrator meant to remain an observer and nothing more.

The Watcher is powerful indeed and is also capable of moving objects with a thought, reading the minds of any sentient being, projecting his thoughts into the minds of others.
