Indian Premier League 2025: Shreyas Iyer disappointed with his team, appreciates Abhishek's innings

With a marvellous win for Sunrisers Hyderabad after four consecutive defeats, a record-breaking spell was seen by Abhishek Sharma in today’s match.

PBKS batted first and set a challenging target score of 245 runs, which is not easy to chase under constant pressure.

However, Abhishek Sharma smashed everyone’s expectations with his constant fours and sixes and finished his royal innings with 141 runs in 55 balls with a strike rate of 256.36.

The whole stadium witnessed the historic century and its unique celebration where Abhishek Sharma shared a heartfelt message for the orange army.

Shreyas Iyer also read the note after Abhishek Sharma flashed it to the crowd as he was curious about the content.

After SRH finished the match in 18.3 overs, Shreyas Iyer answered some questions from the commentators as to how he is handling his team’s defeat after scoring 245 runs in the first innings.

Shreyas Iyer commented that he thought that a score of 230+ runs was more than good enough on the pitch they were playing as it was a bit slower in the first take.

However, dew played an important role in loosening up the pressure on SRH but no one can deny Abhishek Sharma’s jaw dropping performance in today’s match.

Shreyas Iyer said that Abhishek Sharma’s performance is “one of the best he has seen” which serves as a great compliment from a player with so much experience.

When asked about the reason for Punjab Kings’ defeat, Shreyas commented that bowlers certainly played a big part in deciding the fate of the match in the second innings but their bowlers can surely lead another match to victory on another day.

Shreyas Iyer admitted that the fielding done by PBKS players was weak with some catches dropped and failing to stop boundaries at times.

After facing such a one-sided defeat from opposition, it will be interesting to see how Shreyas Iyer cheers up and leads PBKS for their next match.
