Indian Premier League 2025: SRH unable to score big without Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma

Today's match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad turned out to be anticlimactic in the first innings, where Mumbai decided to bowl first after winning the toss.

Sunrisers Hyderabad played an extremely slow innings while struggling to reach the target score of 162 runs in 20 overs.

With the bowlers of MI knowing the Wankhede field to its core, they pushed the brakes of the run rate of Sunrisers, making them unable to turn the overs into big ones.

Travis Head only managed to make 28 runs in 29 balls and got out with a low strike rate of 98.55 which is not expected from a big hitter like him.

Abhishek Sharma also got caught while trying to hit sixes and ended up leaving the field after making 40 runs in 28 balls.

With the openers not being able to give a huge start to the team, the batting order played extremely slowly for the rest of the match, with the run rate being merely over 7.

Ishan Kishan was expected to strike back strongly against his previous franchise today but got out with a single-digit score.

Nitish Reddy tried to build a partnership with Klaasen got out without doing much after making 19 runs in 21 balls.

Bumrah and Jacks prove themselves useful for Mumbai

Klaasen’s one big over against Deepak Chahar which gave Sunrisers 20 runs, helped them to cross the mark of 150 toward the death overs.

Aniket Verma and Pat Cummins managed to make the last over a big one against captain Hardik Pandya's bowling, adding 22 runs to the target score.

Coming to Mumbai Indians bowling squad, Will Jacks showed an unexpected good performance as he took 2 wickets by giving only 14 runs in the 3 overs he bowled.

Bumrah completed his spell of 4 overs and gave only 21 runs, along with taking the important wicket of Klaasen.

Deepak Chahar and Hardik Pandya turned out to be expensive in today's match as bowlers, with their overs being the only expensive ones.

It will be interesting to see if Sunrisers Hyderabad manage to turn the tables with their bowling against the deep batting order of Mumbai Indians.
