Cricket Roars Back: Los Angeles 2028 Olympics to Feature T20 Cricket

Cricket's return to the Olympics is official! The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has given the green light for six teams to compete in the T20 format for both men's and women's matches at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. Each team will have a squad of 15 players.

Cricket last appeared in the Olympics 128 years ago at the 1900 Paris Games, where Great Britain defeated France in a one-off match. The sport's reintroduction was a long-awaited move, with many cricket governing bodies initially opposed to its inclusion.

Cricket was initially planned for the 1896 Athens Olympics but was cancelled due to lack of entries. It made a brief appearance at the 1900 Paris Olympics and was scheduled for the 1904 St. Louis Olympics, but was again cancelled due to insufficient teams.
