Lupin Story Review: Assane Diop’s Grand Heist at Louvre  

Netflix’s new French crime drama takes inspiration from Arsene Lupin, hero of the Maurice Leblanc’s novel of 1905.

A gentlemen thief whose main motivation is not to destroy but to help.

Assane Diop (Oman Sy) the protagonist of the show, is originally from Senegal.

In his childhood, he and his father immigrated to Paris in search of a better life.

His father is hired as chauffer by a wealthy family Pellegrini.

Things takes a bad turn when a famous necklace of the family goes missing.

Suspicion falls on Assane’s father. He is imprisoned where he hangs himself. Assane is left alone in the world.

However, a mysterious benefactor pays for Assane’s education.

At school he meets Claire (Ludivine Sagnier), who becomes romantic interest of Assane.

The two also have a son but their relationship does not last long and they separate.

Hunt for the necklace begins

Assane does not believe that his father was guilty and decides to avenge his death.

After twenty-five years the very same necklace is up for auction in Louvre.

Assane plans for its robbery under the highest security.

This show gives a mix vibe of money heist and oceans eleven.

But somehow leaves more of a mark than either of them.

The five episodic series of 43 minutes long episodes are sure to be a thrilling journey.
